Motor learning in elite badminton players with disabilities with account taken of the state of peripheral vision

Objective of the study is to determine the differences in the psychophysiological and technical indicators between badminton players with musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and with intellectual impairment (II) with account taken of the indicators of the visual field, and on this basis to substantiate the application of differentiated approaches in the methodology of the motor learning of athletes.

Methods and structure of the study. Ten athletes took part in the research: candidates for master of sport and masters of sport aged 21-24 years, members of the national para-badminton team of Russia: 5 persons with MSD and 5 with II. The diagnostics of the simple visual-motor reaction was carried out on a device with the XLIGHT One 6 computer programme, and the assessment of the physical aspect of the strokes was carried out using an Intelligent Badminton Sensor 3.0 attached to the racket. Accuracy in ballistic movements was assessed by the control exercise ‘Accuracy’.

Results and conclusions. Strong correlation relationships between the visual field and the technical indicators were revealed. Differentiated approaches to motor learning for athletes with intellectual impairment and with musculoskeletal disorders are substantiated.
