Identification of technical errors by bachelor’s degree students when assessing the performance of defensive and blocking actions with the arms in kata karate

Objective of the study is to develop and trial a methodology for forming the ability to determine typical errors when assessing the technique of performing defensive and blocking actions with the arms in karateka specialising in KATA, with a view to forming professional competence 2 (PC-2) in the bachelor’s degree students of sports universities.
Methods and structure of the study. The following were used to achieve the aim of the study: the method of analysis of the scientific and scientific-methodological literature, pedagogical observation, the method of expert assessment, and methods of the mathematical and statistical processing of data.
Results and conclusions. The process of professional formation rests on the cultivation of the personal qualities of the future coach, which, together with mental operations and practical actions, form a competent specialist. It should be taken into account that the professional competence which is defined as the ability to use psychological and pedagogical technologies in future professional activity, necessary for the individualisation of the teaching, development and upbringing of athletes and learners (PC-2), may be formed by using in the teaching of the students of sports universities targeted tasks on assessing the technique of performing the basic techniques and on identifying typical errors, in particular when performing defensive and blocking actions with the arms, so as to correct them promptly in the participants.
