Abstract

Objective of the study is to monitor the bioenergetic indicators of 98 athletes of the national Muay Thai team.

Methods and structure of the study. The research was carried out using D&K-TEST rapid diagnostics and methods of assessing functional state, including the indicators of anaerobic, aerobic and total metabolic capacity, as well as heart rate at the level of the anaerobic threshold (HR AT). The data obtained made it possible to determine the pronounced heterogeneity of the functional profile of the athletes examined and to identify the features of their energy metabolism. It was established that the 4th metabolic type predominates in the structure of the team; it is characterised by an anaerobic-aerobic profile and an orientation towards strength endurance. The proportion of athletes with the balanced 3rd type is also significant, whereas representatives of the 1st type occur only in isolated cases.

The range of values of total metabolic capacity proved to be wide, which testifies to differences in the level of special working capacity and functional reserves. The average values of HR AT correspond to a high-intensity regime of loading typical of combat sports; however, the individual fluctuations of the parameter indicate an unequal degree of adaptation of the cardiovascular system to competitive activity.

Results and conclusions. The work carried out confirmed the expediency of using bioenergetic monitoring in the system of preparing combat sports athletes. The practical significance of the work consists in the possibility of individualising the training process with account taken of the metabolic type, the level of total metabolic capacity and the features of the threshold response of the cardiovascular system. The information obtained may be used in planning loads, monitoring recovery and adjusting the orientation of the preparation of the athletes of national teams.
